This morning the wind was whipping, raining sideways and cold cold cold - the total opposite of yesterday. I rose this morning to dismantle my MacGuyver setup - I don't think they would be happy to see the gum stuck on their window and then checked out and packed up the car.
I slowly made my way to Greve to see this wonderful villa that David at Villa Bordoni introduced me to. Although when I arrived, I realized I had already been introduced to it before - on a well known program on the Travel Channel. I am going to be secretive about this phenomenal gem of a villa so people are forced to book it with me! Other people book it but I want to help send people here. It is almost 1.5 km from the main road -with views of the nearby hilltown of Panzano. This is a 14 person villa - all bedrooms have en suite baths, views of the surrounding hillsides. Breakfast is provided daily and a cook can be hired for other meals. There is a pool, a gym, lots of grassy areas, covered dining area and very sophisticated, VERY private and comfortable.
please keep in mind that is a DEFINITELY a luxury villa - higher priced but well worth it and split between 7 couples, it would be the same as a hotel. Great value and experiences to be had here.
I LOVE this villa.
After this villa visit, I hit the road to explore areas new to me and slowly make my way to Vinci, birthplace of Leonardo - I went throgh Badia a Passignano, MercataleVal di Pesa, San Casciano Val di Pesa, Empoli, to Vinci to name a few. I neglected to bring the directions to the Villa Dianella Fucini with me so I stopped for lunch in Vinci and asked the waitress if she knew the B&B and she very thoughtfully drew me a great diagram of how to get there. For lunch, I had a delicious veal scallopine with a lemon sauce, french fries, water, glass of wine and a caffe all for 15 euros - being in the country sure is different than in the city! An hour later, I arrived at 3:30 p.m at the exquisite B&B Villa Dianella Fucini in the land of rotaries (I thought Boston was bad with all of the rotaries - Empoli is crazy with them).

I was met by Veronica the owner, Laura and my contact Samantha who is responsible for the villa and the B&B they own. I was given the keys to the Green room - It spans the whole back side of the villa - a HUGE bedroom, a separate living area with a small TV and then a HUGE bathroom with a tub AND a shower - it overlooks the back garden of the villa and has everything you may need - including internet which is why I am catching up on work and it looks like skipping dinner as it is almost 9.
Some clients of mine arrive here tomorrow from Venice and I have arranged for a wine cellar tour and tasting for their arrival in Chianti and then we might get some dinner in Lucca.
